The Building Professionals Board is responsible for the accreditation of all ‘NSW E1 Accredited Certifier Swimming Pool Certifications’ Training Courses. APSIC has submitted our course to the Building Professionals Board for accreditation. At this time we have not received accreditation.
In NSW, The Building Professionals Board has created strict pre-requisite requirements to hold one of the following qualifications or experience to enroll in the E1 Swimming Pool Certifications course.
If you do not meet the below qualification or experience, there is another pathway available to you - mutual recognition of QLD Pool Safety Inspector licenses. Please visit the Mutual Recognition page.
To become a QLD Pool Safety Inspector, there is no requirement to hold a particular qualification or experience for enrolment in a course. Once you have completed the QLD course and receive your QLD Pool Safety Inspectors licence, you can then apply to the Building Professionals Board for mutual recognition of that licence. APSIC will not be held liable for any enrolments in a course, where the student has not first taken appropriate due diligence measures to ensure they hold the relevant pre-requisite qualification requirements for enrolment in that course and subsequent accreditation. A candidate will not be entitled to a refund where a cancellation of enrolment is requested as a result of not holding the pre-requisite qualification or experience requirements.
APSIC is a Training Organisation specialising in the delivery of Accredited Training to individuals wishing to become licensed Pool Safety Inspectors (Queensland) and E1 Accredited Certifiers for Swimming Pool Certification (New South Wales).
APSIC has been involved in the delivery of this specialised training since December 2010, when Queensland saw changes to their respective legislation. These changes required all regulated swimming pools to be inspected by a licensed Pool Safety Inspector, prior to the sale or lease of the property. An individual must complete an Accredited Training Course (delivered by APSIC) to qualify to become a licensed Pool Safety Inspector.

Since June 2013, APSIC has delivered training across numerous NSW councils, providing instruction and guidance to council compliance staff regarding the recent changes to the Swimming Pools Act 1992 and Swimming Pools Regulation 2008 and the implementation of such (please see testimonials)
In NSW, commencing 29 April 2016, The Swimming Pools Act 1992 requires pool owners to obtain a Certificate of Compliance from an Accredited Certifier (or local council), prior to the property with the swimming pool being sold or leased.
To support the expected demand for pool safety inspections and the issuing of Certificates of Compliance, a new Category of Accredited Certifier ‘E1 Swimming Pool Certifier’ has been introduced to NSW.
The Building Professionals Act 2005 requires a person wishing to become a Category E1 Swimming Pool Certifier to complete an accredited training course, approved by the Building Professionals Board (The Board). The APSIC Category E1 Swimming Pool Certifications Course has received endorsement and accreditation by The Board. Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of this course.
The E1 Accredited Certifier Swimming Pool Certifications course is conducted via three days face-to-face training (plus three hours of pre-course preparation)with both written and practical assessment . This course is conducted at a training venue with access to a real swimming pool with real pool barrier, providing the student with real practical experience in conducting pool compliance inspections.
Upon completion of the course, you will have an understanding of the relevant Legislation, Standards and Codes of Conduct relating to the role of an E1 Swimming Pool Certifier. The role of an E1 Swimming Pool Certifier includes:

Prior to attending the course, you will be required to complete three hours of pre-course preparation. The pre-course preparation will include the information covered in Units 1 and 4.
The three day face-to face course will be delivered using power point learning presentations, Student workbooks and practical demonstrations on a real swimming pool and its associated pool barriers at the training venue.
APSIC course participant numbers are limited to 15 students per course.

Commencing May 2013, NSW adopted the Australian Standard 1926.1-2012 under The Building Code of Australia. However, some swimming pools (depending on the date of construction of the swimming pool or if a valid exemption exists) may be entitled to use an older Australian Standard.
Day 2 will be delivered via in class-room learning and via practical learning on a real swimming pool with real pool barrier. Day 2 will provide you with a thorough understanding of the applicable Australian Standards for compliant pool barriers in NSW such as:
How to conduct an inspection of a pool barrier by use of correct tools, issuing Certificates of Compliance and issuing of Written Reports identifying areas of non-compliance.
In addition to learning the Australian Standards that applies to NSW for pool barriers, participants will be taught how to apply this knowledge in the role of an E1 Swimming Pool Certifier. This topic will cover various areas relating to the setting up of your Swimming Pool Certifier business and your obligations under the Building Professionals Act 2005, such as:

After successfully completing the course and all assessment, you will be issued with a Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of the Course. This Certificate will be required when you lodge your Application for Accreditation as an E1 Accredited Certifier with the Building Professionals Board.

The Building Professionals Board administers all accreditation, compliance and disciplinary functions relating to Category E1 Swimming Pool Certifiers.
To become a Category E1 Swimming Pool Certifier, you are required to lodge your application with the Building Professionals Board.
The accreditation application must be made on the ‘Application for Accreditation’ Form. This form must be completed and lodged with the Building Professionals Board along with the following:
The Building Professionals Board will assess each application to determine if an individual is a suitable person to be accredited.
An accreditation remains in force for 1 year from the date of issue – unless cancelled, suspended or surrendered.
